EIGER 3790m
MITTILLEGI RIDGE
The Mittellegi Ridge on the Eiger is a classic alpine rock route. There is a glacier approach, and a glacier finish, however most of the difficulties in between are on rock. Often wearing crampons from start to finish, and with ever increasing exposure, the ridge is for the sure footed and not for the faint of heart.
Though not as famous as its more challenging neighbour, the North Face, the ridge follows a dramatically exposed route to the summit. This two-day climb, is broken down into an approach day and a summit day. We stay at the Mittellegi Hut which is conveniently perched on the ridge and comfortably provides our overnight shelter and a delicious meal before heading out pre-dawn on our summit day.
