At the foot of Mont Blanc du Tacul, is a short ridgeline known as Pointe Lachenal. This fantastic mixed route can be comfortably completed in a day from Chamonix by taking the cable car to the summit of the Aiguille du Midi. Providing an excellent introduction to all aspects of mountain climbing, the route has a little bit of everything. Glacier navigation, and both ice and rock climbing sections. While much of the climbing is generally straightforward, there are a few brief, steeper sections providing a wide range of terrain to further one’s skill set.

If you are planning on climbing other peaks in the area the traverse is an excellent route to warm up on and acclimatize.
